  • SimpsonElite Runs Week 3

Week three was amazing and it was filled with talented players from all over. The players who stood out the most was Anestis Hadjistamoulou, Simon Weisserman, Brady Sehlhorst, Marko, Visnejevac, Jacob Rice and Trevon Roots. The gym was filled with high energy guys, it was electric. Guys were flying around, talking, diving for loose balls and playing the right way. What it boiled down to was the players who rise to the challenge it was Hadjistamoulou and Rice. Both did everything they could to help their team to a victory and that exactly what they did. Each week these runs get more intense and it only gets better from here.

  • Jimmy Kania 6'3 Lakes(2024)

Kania is a tweener, he's somewhat of a forward but has a guard skill set. The 6-foot-3 guard is very crafty with moves and the ability to shoot off the dribble makes him lethal seeing as though smaller guards will be on him. Really solid dribbling the basketball and playmaking for him and others. He has a great feel for moving without the ball, whether its filling the lane, drifting, filling up or cutting, Kania is not a guy you can turn your back on. He shoots the ball extremely well from anywhere on the floor, Kania is also an efficient shooter and only looks for the best shot available. He's very active on the defensive end, defensive leader as you will, talking, being a menace on ball defender and having active hands in the passing lanes, disrupting the offensive flow.

  • Aidyn Boone 6'4 Libertyville(2023)

Boone uses his body to his advantage inside and in the post, as he finds different ways to get his defender on his back making it easier for him to finish. He certainly plays below the rim however he still has the skill set to block timely shots when protecting the basket. Its important to note just how many shots he's able to seek out for himself. He was amongst the best at SimpsonElite Runs at putting himself in situation to get those attempts, as his unique physical abilities make him very difficult to keep away from high quality shots. Boone has a great feel for his jump shot as he can shoot from pretty much anywhere on the floor but is dangerous in the duck in area. Beyond his ability to carve out space using brute force, Boone also shows deceptive agility and body control on his cuts to the rim, dive cuts from the high post or rolls to the basket off high screens.

  • Izaiah Diaz 5'7 Waukegan(2023)

Diaz is a small combo guard who plays the game the way a coach see fit. Diaz isn't flashy but his understanding of team first mindset is what keeps him on the floor. Diaz has a great sense of spacing the floor, timely cuts, and moving with a purpose. He has a feel for the game that comes naturally to only a select few, two dribble pulls, using the correct footwork techniques, fundamentals, making the one more pass, or making open shots. Diaz does a great job of keeping the ball in front of him and leaving space between him, man, and ball to create that five second count. He isn't afraid to pressure the ball full court and he's a talker, who gets everyone else going.

  • Ellis Usher 5'8 North Chicago(2023)

The crafty point guard showed his ability to fit into tight spaces when creating and getting through screens and his ability to make plays for him and others is what keeps him on the floor. The 5-foot-8 point guard is a defender you do not want checking you. Ellis gets all up in your jersey, he's a pest on that side of the ball, guarding you the full length of the floor and he's a really good off ball defender. Ellis has instincts like no other, he's fast, quick, and can get to loose balls with a blink of an eye. Ellis does a really good job creating space, driving gaps and getting two feet in the paint to shoot or do a little runner over the defender.

  • Christian Uremovich 6'6 Stevenson(2024)

W-O-R-K H-O-R-S-E. Not often do you see players play hard for a full 32 minutes, but you can count on Uremovich to bring the effort night in and night out. He's the type of player who always have lots of deflections, give his team another opportunity to score, always crashing the glass, and diving for loose balls. Caring every possession, having that mindset of wanting to get a stop, having a pride that you don't want your guy to score and he's doing this while be effective of the offensive end. The 6-foot-6 wing doesn't have handles that wow you, but when giving the opportunity to blow by you, he can attack the basket with either hand. Really good spot up shooter and solid off the bounce shooter. He has a sense of spacing, he runs to fill lanes and he know how to react in pick and roll situations. With his size, I can see him being able to guard 1-4 at the high school level and using him in pick and pop situations can be deadly for Stevenson this upcoming winter.

  • Marko Visnejevac 6'0 McHenry(2024)

When you talk about shooting lights out and being a hybrid guard, Visnejevac is that guy. The 6-foot guard is the kind of player you want on your team rather than guard him. His deceptive ball handling and manipulation of ball screens is what makes him hard to contain. Visnejevac does a great job of creating for himself and others, but the way he can shoot off the dribble after creating space, you can count the bucket. He's a crafty guard with good ball control. Visnejevac orchestrates the offense well and is like a coach on the floor- its obvious that he's been around the game for a long time. He gets his teammates involved and makes some really nice passes, while putting some pressure on the defense with his scoring ability. Natural born leader, Visnejevac was putting his guys in position to be successful on the floor and he does not stop talking, the kid is a steal for any college that is looking for a scoring guard.

  • Brady Sehlhorst 6'6 Notre Dame College Prep(2025)

The 6-foot-6 unicorn is considered to be ranked top 15 in the state of Illinois in the class of 2025, "per Illinois Hoops Report. Sehlhorst has a great motor that will allow him to get easy baskets or careless steals because of his effort. Attacking the basket, Sehlhorst doesn't have much in terms of advanced ball handling but he can handle it comfortably on straight line drives with either hand, and his ability to take the ball to the basket for a runner or slam it home allows him to score efficiently around the rim. A really good athlete, Sehlhorst has outstanding coordination and body control, while showing off pretty good explosiveness when he gets his legs under him. He has a solid first step, and is very crafty maneuvering through the lane and finding open spaces, that will get him to the free throw line at a high rate. Aside from scoring, Sehlhorst is very versatile, great off ball player, moves very well without the ball, showing a good understanding of spacing and getting out in transition and filling lanes. He is a really good rebounder for his position and the more he is active on defense, he will get a lot of deflections and steals.

  • Tristan Rice 6'2 Warren(2024)

Looking at Tristan Rice before actually watching him play, you would assume that he your typical wide, slow, undersized center that just used for setting screens or getting a few rebounds. That however is completely not the case when discussing Tristan Rice. What stands out about Rice is surprisingly his good ball handling skills. He is very good at taking defenders off the dribble and is able to change gears using hesitation moves even use a crossover move that can get him to the basket off the bounce. He utilized this very well at SimpsonElite Runs. He has great size to finish in the paint over both shoulders and is able to hit the outside shot. He does a great job of using his body and sealing defenders for the easy layup.

  • Jon Mcgee 6'2 Glenbrook North(2025)

Mcgee's game isn't flashy, more so quiet but he does all the little things that matters in a basketball game. Mcgee was one of the most versatile and efficient threats at SimpsonElite Runs. Mcgee is a multi-faceted offense threat, good with the shoot, the drive, and the pass. Mcgee is best known for his shooting ability in which he shoots at such a high clip. He has a pretty form, good release on his jump shot and a nice lift on his shot. Mcgee was one of the best off the bounce shooters in the gym. Unlike most perimeter players. Mcgee utilizes the pull game to great effect, in addition to be outstanding coming off screens. Im expecting his game to develop more over his high school career as he begins to be more aggressive with the ball, he is going to be very hard to guard.

  • Logan Brown 6'6 Glenbard West(2023)

At 6-foot-6, Brown has excellent size for a point guard. He is undoubtedly a combo guard but he is at his best when he is creating for others. Brown has the height to see over the defense, and the fundamentals required to make every type of pass a point guards need to make. The ball never sticks in Brown's hands. His off ball movements are phenomenal and he reads the plays on the court in frames ahead of his teammates. He has a strong potential to be a good facilitator out of pick and roll, where he's a respectable threat as shooter. Brown athleticism makes up for blow by's and his recover timing is second to none. He is tenacious defender and is always communicating with his teammates. He has supremely quick hands that help him intercept passes for easy transition baskets.

  • Trevon Roots 6'6 Marmion Academy(2023)

Roots showcased why his stock has been rising in the state of Illinois after having a really good summer. At the SimpsonElite Runs, when defenses closed out on Roots, he showed a quick first step, and used his long strides to get to the rim and finish emphatically. At this point, Roots is still very much developing his ball handling abilities but he showed he could get to the basket on straight line drives and with quick face up moves in the post. He also found some success as a shot blocker and rebounder at SimpsonElite Runs. His ability to be mobile on the perimeter is what makes his special on both ends of the floor. Because of his length he is able to get hands on deflections and timely steals, but most importantly his shot block timing is really good.
